OUR MANDATE TESL Toronto's mandate is to support professional development for teachers of English as a Second Language, to work with the provincial organization, TESL Ontario, and other affiliates to enhance ESL learning environments, and to establish and promote standards in the teaching of ESL.

CONFERENCES

We offer professional development conferences twice a year. These conferences provide ESL teachers from Toronto and vicinity with the opportunity to attend hands-on workshops and to browse through the latest selection of ESL publications displayed by publishers. Participants also have the chance to hear about current issues in the profession in workshops focussing on current ESL-related research.

TESL TORONTO ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE

TESL Toronto is run by a volunteer executive board. Board members represent the wide variety of contexts in which teachers of English as a Second Language work: Toronto Boards of Education (Elementary, Secondary and Adult ESL Continuing Education), private language schools, colleges and universities, community settlement agencies, and LINC programs (federal settlement programs).
