TESL Toronto's mandate is to support professional development for teachers of English as a Second Language, to work with the provincial organization, TESL Ontario, and other affiliates to enhance ESL learning environments, and to establish and promote standards in the teaching of ESL.
We offer professional development conferences twice a year. These conferences provide ESL teachers from Toronto and vicinity with the opportunity to attend hands-on workshops and to browse through the latest selection of ESL publications displayed by publishers. Participants also have the chance to hear about current issues in the profession in workshops focussing on current ESL-related research.

MEMBERSHIP: TESL Toronto is an affiliate of TESL Ontario. As a TESL Ontario member you will receive TESL Canada Journal, CONTACT Magazine, conference information and discounts. As a TESL affiliate member you will also receive TESL Toronto Newsletter and discounted rates for local conferences. Ready to join? Click here to visit TESL Ontario and register online.

TESL Toronto is run by a volunteer executive board. Board members represent the wide variety of contexts in which teachers of English as a Second Language work: boards of education (Elementary, Secondary and Continuing Education), private language schools, community settlement agencies and LINC (federal settlement program).

The executive consists of committees that undertake the planning of various events and new initiatives such as organizing conferences and workshops, submission of newsletter articles, website design. The committees actively meet, plan and organize as well as report to the executive monthly. Members are welcome to participate in their area(s) of interest.
